Bestseller! Says who?
Have you ever wondered how a book makes it on the bestseller list? The New York Times or Publisher’s Weekly or USA Today lists? Well, surprise, surprise, it’s not by selling the most books. Not total books anyway.
For a very complete and informative discussion on what’s wrong with the popular bestseller lists, read Michael Hyatt’s posts from his blog “From Where I Sit.” Hyatt, who I’ve mentioned on this blog before, is the CEO & President of Thomas Nelson. His blog is worth reading on a regular basis, but I particulary want to suggest his posts about the bestseller lists and what can be done to make them more accurate. I’ve linked to them below. Check them out. It’s always good to know what’s selling in the industry, what the readers are reading, and what publishers are producing those books.
