Sleepyhead

Since chemo-Tuesday people have been asking that ever-toning question, “How are you feeling?” My answer: tired. These last two rounds of chemo have run over me like an out-of-control Mack truck doing eighty in a fifty-five.

I’ve been sleeping a lot. Napping a lot. Dozing a lot. Struggling to stay awake . . . a lot.

Fatigue is a side effect of chemo and I was told it would get worse as two weeks between treatments is not enough time for the body to recover.

During my last appointment with my oncologist he expressed some concern over the side effects and said we will probably shift my chemo treatments from the IV form to the oral form next session. Apparently, for most folk, the oral form has milder side effects. Here’s hoping . . .

Verse for the morning: Psalm 3:5 (sleep is on my mind . . . restful sleep), I lay down and slept; I awoke, for the LORD sustained me.

Ahhh, sleep.
