Strep Throat and Pulling Legs

Sorry I’m late getting this post up. I woke up last night (wee early morning hours) with a fever and terrible sore throat. After a call to the oncologist Jen and I spent the next three and half hours in the emergency room to get a prescription for antibiotics for strep throat.

When you’re on chemo no one wants to mess with this stuff. Chemo can lower your white blood cell count which can make any infection get a really bad attitude.

Anyway, back to our cliche about pulling someone’s leg. Ed got it exactly right in his comment on yesterday’s post (way to go, Ed). Pulling legs was something they did when a hanged person didn’t die right away. People would pull on the convicted’s legs to quicken the asphyxiation and hasten death. Pretty morbid, huh?

Hi Mike -Whew, sorry I’m late today. Weekends are crazy around here.Yeah, susceptibility to infection is a problem with chemo. I’m glad you’re staying on top of the situation. So, Ed was correct! I had a feeling he wasn’t pulling our leg. (Argh, did I really write that???)Blessings,Susan 🙂

  2. Strep throat is not fun even without having to battle cancer on top of it! Praying for a speedy recovery!

  3. Sorry if I’ve been a bit quiet lately. Still praying hard for your complete recovery.Jenni
