Sharing my Heart with Kids

I’ll be speaking to middle and high school kids this afternoon at the Christian School of York (my alma mater). Here’s a couple highlights I’ll be hitting.

One, God is faithful. All the time. No matter what we’re going through in life, no matter how deep the valley or endless the road may seem, no matter how lonely or frightening the journey may be . . . God is there, protecting us, watching over us, holding us, listening to us, comforting us.

Two, open up to God. Share with Him your innermost struggles, fears, frustrations, desires, and joys. He cares and being honest with God draws us closer to Him.

Three, recognize that we’re not in charge. God is calling the shots. It’s okay to make plans, sure, but understand that God is in control and be willing to surrender your plans to His plans.

That’s the bulk of it. Hopefully, I’ll get an attentive audience and not a bunch of blank stares peeking out behind shaggy bangs (you know how kids can be).

  1. I will be praying that the Lord will go before you in this and speak through you! Kids feel so immortal. I guess we all do to a great extent. God’s ways are so much higher!I look forward to hearing all about this!Kim

  2. Susan J. Reinhardt

Hi Mike -Sorry I didn’t get here earlier. I’m working extra hours to make up for the time lost on Jury Duty.I hope you had a great time with the kids.Blessings,Susan 🙂

  3. The Surrendered Scribe

My prayer is they surprise you in a great way. I know for me, although I understand our speeches aren’t the same topic, the kids responded better than some adults.Bless you for sharing your heart as God directs.
