Dead Woman Moving

This is just bizarre. On Tuesday a 45-year old Colombian woman had a heart attack and was pronounced dead at the Cali University Hospital in Cali, Colombia.

Two hours later her body was at a funeral home and the undertaker was just about to inject embalming fluid into her left leg when he said he saw her arm move. She was rushed back to the hospital and was, indeed, found to be still alive. As of Wednesday she was in the intensive care unit and doctor’s said her prognosis was not good. Hey, it’s better than dead.

A Colombian neurosurgeon said in rare cases a person’s heart and breathing rate can slow so much as to be undetectable and the person can be mistakenly pronounced dead. Oops.

How would like to have been that undertaker? Bet he’ll be dreaming about that for a while.

Hey, this is where I get story ideas.

  1. I read an article in a magazine once about a woman whose heart stopped for long periods. She finally had to get a tag attached to her toe or a necklace or something because she had been pronounced dead and taken to the funeral home at least twice.

This article on today reminded us of your books…

SNOW HILL, Md. — Authorities say skeletal human remains have been found on the grounds of a bed and breakfast in downtown Snow Hill.

Police say the remains were found after several hours of searching as part of a larger investigation.

The remains are believed to be a woman’s, and the person is being referred to as “Jane Doe.” The remains were sent to the state Medical Examiner’s office in Baltimore for identification.

Worcester County State’s Attorney Joel Todd says it would be inappropriate to provide more details of the investigation at this stage.

Todd does say the discovery of the remains Friday came as a surprise to the owners of the bed and breakfast, who otherwise had nothing to do with the investigation.

    • This confirms what I’m always saying . . . Maryland is a creepy state, especially northern and eastern. And hey, I’m from Maryland. Thanks for passing this along. What a surprise for the B & B owners, huh? Unless, of course, they’re involved . . .
