Supernatural Power

For our family devotions we started reading the book of Acts. Regrettably, it’s been a while since I’ve read Acts from start to finish. Shame on me. Monday night we kicked it off and only got through the first eleven verses. And, boy, I’m already blown away. Verse 8 is some powerful, thought-provoking stuff.

And you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be My witnesses in Jerusalem, and in  all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.

You shall receive power. I told my girls that the same Holy Spirit that came upon those disciples is the same Holy Spirit that comes upon us. That the same power they received is the same power we receive. That power enabled them to speak in other languages, to raise the dead and heal the blind and lame, to see visions and have special knowledge, it made them immune to the poison of vipers and transported them through time and space. Amazing stuff! And the point of all that power was to be witnesses.

Our oldest asked, “So if it’s the same Holy Spirit and the same power why can’t we do that stuff now days?”

Um . . . well, we see the power manifested in different ways now days, but is the power still there to do those amazing things? In my opinion, it sure is.

And that’s what I explore in my novels. The power. The possibility. The capability. The supernatural we all have access to if we have the Holy Spirit.

Think about it.

  1. The power is the same. Jesus is the same (yesterday, today, and Forever). The Holy Spirit still does the very same things He did in Acts. We Christians need to believe in who He truly is, not in what different individuals (humans) have suggested we believe. So much is available to us of the Lord, so much we never contemplate or adhere to or use for His glory. It’s such a shame, such a waste.

Keep writing of the glory of the supernatural Father, Lord and Savior, Spirit of Truth. The power is still there. It’s sad that we’re more likely to believe/embrace the evil than we are the Righteous One.

  2. I agree with everything you & Nicole have written. I’m so glad you write about the Supernatural/Spiritual warfare, it’s something a lot of people want to be hush hush about, and warfare’s a great problem in today’s society.
    thank you 🙂

  3. God bless you Mike! I love reading about the spiritual realm. My husband, myself and a good friend went to raise a friend of ours from the dead several years back and asked God to send angels to prepare the way. This man was in the morgue in a hospital and only family was allowed and his family did not want us anywhere near him. God opened the way for us to get into the morgue and as we were praying for him and calling for his spirit to return to his body the Lord showed me and my girlfriend at the same time that he did not want to return (the Lord never oversteps our free will) because of some stuff in his life that at the time we were unaware of. Some people may think we were off in left field but I believe that the Lord had us go through it to show us that He could get us in anywhere we need to be regardless of rules and regs. I have personally been ministered to and ministered to others and seen instantaneous healings. The Christian church is so far below where it should be in this area and many people are hurting because of it. I believe that there will be a time not so soon in the future where healthcare will be so unaffordable that people will need Christians to rise up in the healing area or there will be a lot of death around us. God bless you and keep writing. I haven’t read one of your books yet but I am looking forward to purchasing one when I have finished the ones I have.

  4. Absolutely the power of God is still available, and there are still prophets and apostles being raised up, just as there have been evangelists, preachers and teachers raised up still. The five-fold ministry is being fully restored to the Body of Christ in the way that it should be. Over time, signs and wonders have increased. The power of God will cause metal to be disintegrated in a person’s body and where metal was holding the person’s body together, the real bone, marrow and tissue is formed again. God is still the miracle working God that He always has been. We just have to have the Faith to believe on Him to actually DO these works. It’s why so little things happen here in America, and so MANY GREAT things happen in other countries. In America we’ve become too modern and have lost our Faith in the One we say we serve, while in other countries, if they lose their Faith, they can lose their lives because the protection of God goes away. We need to reenergize our Faith with true Revival and we need to believe that God will do great and mighty things through us. A quote from a man of God I read and listen to is “God’s greatest pain is to be doubted. God’s greatest pleasure is to be believed.” If we choose to believe that God will do those great and mighty things through us, then He will.

  5. Matthew 17:20

“You don’t have enough faith,” Jesus told them. “I tell you the truth, if you had faith even as small as a mustard seed, you could say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it would move. Nothing would be impossible

  6. Dr. TL Osborn preaches 7 messages on the first 4 verses of Acts. Awesome stuff.
