The Rest of the Story and the TOP 10 Finalists
Okay, so here’s the rest of the story . . .
Last evening I received a visit from our local constable and was served a subpoena. He stood on our front porch and said, “You are hereby summoned to appear in court on the following date . . .”
Boy, that’ll give the neighbors something to talk about.
About six weeks ago, on my way to work, I witnessed an auto accident. A woman ran a stop sign and was hit by another woman in the intersection. I pulled over, got out to see if everyone was okay (which they were) and waited around for the police to come to give my statement.
So, it appears I’m being called in as a witness. The letter I received earlier was a rescheduling notice for the court date. It had my name on it but the defendant’s charges. Not sure why they do it that way as it was very confusing at first. It read like the charges were against me.
Anyway, the subpoena says if I don’t show I could face a fine and/or imprisonment. I guess it’s my civil duty to show up and state my story.
Okay, enough of that. THANK YOU ALL for your submissions. I received a lot. More than I was expecting.
They were all good, interesting, creative. Some of you have some wild imaginations. A little scary, if you ask me. I hate the process of narrowing these down, knowing many are being left out.
I have to apologize but I’m going to drag this out a bit. Below are the top 10 finalists. This afternoon, hopefully around noon, I’ll announce the top 5. Then later afternoon/early evening I’ll announce the winner. Right here in this post so keep coming back throughout the day.
Just a note: It’s 6 a.m. as I type this and I have no idea who the winner is yet. Seriously. It’ll come down to the last minute, I’m sure, when I have to make a decision.
Here are your TOP 10 SUBMISSIONS (in no particular order):
Kyle Waalen
C.L. Dyck
Lori Roeleveld
Cory Clubb
Tim Johnson
Aaron Reed
Steve Rzasa
Robin Hatcher
Rob Tucker
Diane Graham
Congrats to the top 10 and thank you all for your submissions. I’m sorry I couldn’t include everyone.
TOP 5 FINALISTS!! (again, in no particular order . . . I still have no idea who the winner is; this is harder than I thought it would be!)
Aaron Reed
Diane Graham
Cory Clubb
Kyle Waalen
Steve Rzasa
Congratulations on making it to the next level!
By the way, special kudos go out to Mary King who came up with a story description that included all the titles of my previous books. Very creative!
Check back later for the winner. The announcement will be made in a separate blog post.

Thanks, Mike.
Wow, that would be troubling to receive adverse charges like those. That kind of information shouldn’t appear on a notice to the witness.
